Janmashtami is a day of celebration for every Indian. As much as we value dance, music, and food in the celebration of festivals, we should also give high importance to the ideas related to the festival. The question is how do high ideas get started? We have to turn to read material if we want to develop high ideas. You will all celebrate Janmashtami through music, dance, and good food, but let us celebrate Janmashtami by knowing some information about Krishna, some unknown things about Krishna’s life, and the sixteen arts that Krishna has acquired.

In this article, I am mentioning some of the reading material which is related to Krishna and is world-famous. If we talk about books written about Krishn.

first of all, we come to two books. ‘Shrimad Bhagwat’ and ‘Mahabharata’ written by Mahamuni Vedavyas. Both of these depict the entire life of Krishna. Apart from that, the book depicting Krishna’s birth and Krishna’s life with devotion is ‘Eknathi Bhagavat’ written by Saint Eknath.

These are all very well known Krishna characters. Let’s talk about some of the books that have been noted internationally, and the authors of the books have said some wonderful things about Krishna. The first such book is ‘The Supreme Personality of GodHead’. The book is written by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, founder of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness. He has shown the mysterious and beautiful form of Lord Krishna. The book has been published in 20 languages and has sold over 5,00,000 copies since 1990.

The second is ‘Yugantar’. This book is written by Shivaji Shashwat. This book is published in Marathi, Gujarati, and Hindi languages. In this book, Krishna is presented as Yugandhar i.e. the pioneer of a new age.

The third is the book ‘Krishna Meri Drishti Mein’ written by Osho Rajneesh in the 19th. The book is currently available on Amazon under the name ‘Krishna Smriti’. The first addition in 1974.

The fourth book is ‘The complete life of Krishna’. This book is written by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay. And it is found on vedarsi com.

The fifth book that came out in 1996 and this book is a unique book that gives an overview of the life of Lord Krishna. ‘The play of God’ written by Vanmali.

Then comes the book ‘Leela Purushottam Shri Krishna’ written in Bengali. This book has been published by ISKCON.

The book ‘Shri Krishna Karnanamrutam’, written in Karelian and Sanskrit languages, talks about different aspects of Krishna’s life. The book is written by an author named Lila Shuka. All these books show different aspects of Lord Krishna’s life, in a very beautiful way. Osho Rajneesh has not left a single area of Krishna’s life. So Prabhupada in his book ‘The supreme personality of godhead’ has shown Krishna’s Rasleela. Everyone has put new aspects of Krishna’s life in front of us, and this is the specialty of Lord Krishna. You can see it from every dimension and understand. They are not bound anywhere or with anything or by anyone.

Let us now talk about some of the wonderful events of Krishna’s life in the Mahabharata. You may not know about all these events. We will not analyze any event. I present the occasions as they have happened.

Krishna used to steal butter in his childhood. Why steal butter? Does Nandaraja’s son lack butter? The fact was that at that time the herdsmen of Gokul could pay tax on butter to the king of Mathura, and then sell the butter. Hard-made butter for free. Matakifodi and butter theft are both symbolic. But this is the first LEELA, that Balakrishna has done since he was born on earth.

Now the second incident is to make Dwarka and not living in Mathura after killing Kansa. Here also the question arises why not stay in Mathura? The reason is that Yadav was not very important in Mathura. The whole area was surrounded by Kshatriyas. The long stay in Mathura at that time was detrimental to the Yadav group.

It is also worth noting that Shri Krishna has held only two things in his entire life. Flute in childhood and Sudarshan Chakra in youth. The flute hypnotizes many, and hypnotism is known as Samohan, from it his name ‘Mohan’. When Sudarshan Chakra killed kings like Shishupal. Apart from this no other weapon was used by Shri Krishna.

The third event of Krishna’s life was last revealed when Draupadi ‘s chirharan done by Dushasan in Kaurav Sabha. Draupadi endured all the insults of Duryodhana, Dushasana, and Karna. Once Draupadi asked Krishna why he did not come first? Krishna’s answer was amazing; Because Draupadi did not remember him before. She first complained against the Pandavas, Bhishma, and Drona. She reminded him at last and Krisna was there. If so, how many things are there? Very little known yet rational.

Krishna has not kept a single promise in his life. Saying that he would not take up weapons in the battle of Mahabharata, he picked up the wheel of the chariot and ran to kill Bhishma. Made love with Radha and got married to Rukmini. Even with Rukmini, he did not keep his promise of monogamy. Brought Satyabhama as his second wife.

Apart from this still not telling anyone even though he knows how many exceptional events like, Karna is Kunti’s son. In the battle of Mahabharata, when Duryodhana was finally going naked in front of his mother, he was stopped and asked to cover his upper legs.

You know, Krishna is the only God who has been cursed? Gandhari cursed him that the entire Yadav clan would be annihilated. And you will live until you see the demolition of your whole Gautra or vansh or family. Your whole family will die before you die. And indeed it has. Mahamuni Veda Vyas has shown this to happen in the Mahabharata.

These were some of the wonderful stories of Krishna’s life.

Now we come to the last part. Krishna was an incarnation of Vishnu. All were the best. He specialized in 16 arts. Very few people know about these 16 arts. With this, I am putting the Sanskrit names of those 12 arts and their meanings.
