Raat Akeli Hai : Complete Review

The story starts with the murder of Raghuvir Singh’s wife & his driver is so mysterious & after the first scene story jumps to the 5 years after. In the current scenario of Raghuvir Sing’s second marriage, another murder happened & it was now Raghuvir Singh himself. Inspector Jatil Yadav(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) enters in this case & investigation starts by putting doubt on each & every family member. Will Jatil Yadav success to find a murderer? This film answers this question.

Screenplay & Direction

The screenplay of the film is written fabulously & cleverly also by Smita Singh. It connects to the audience at the very start of the film. You can’t turn your attention at all. Each & every character is written sharply from head to foot & they can get justice from that. Casting director Honey Trehan put the step into the mainstream direction by this film, that’s why the cast is so perfect. With the debut directional flick, he has given more than good. The film maintained its pace & you cannot judge till the end that who is the murderer & this is the craftsmanship of the director.

In the field of cinematography, this film is also making the numbers because the award-winning cinematographer Pankaj Kumar takes the charge of it. Pankaj Kumar has given lots of masterpieces before this like “Tummbad”, Haider, “Talvar” etc. By this list, you can judge how RAH treated! Reality-based location helps the story to make it more natural. The editing of the film is a little bit weak point because as per the story, the film has to be for the duration of 2hrs. 10mins. But it runs 20mins. More & that feels the spectator bored in some scenes. The length of the film is we can say the weak side.

Each & every actor has done a fantastic job for their role. In the list from starting from Radha (Radhika Apte), Munna Raja (Aditya Shrivatav), Sarita Kumari (Ila Arun), Premila Singh(Padmavati Rao) & last but not the least Inspector Jatil Yadav(Nawazuddin Siddiqui). All actors have done a good job but we have to say that Nawazuddin is the soul of the film & no nepotism can knock him out. Tigmanshu Dhulia & Shweta Tripathi got a small but important role.

The experienced music director Sneha Khanwalkar as given music in the film but this time for the songs it doesn’t work but in the background score, it feels really suspense drama so the feel of the movie maintained very well by it.

Raat Akeli Hai released on Netflix & this OTT platform is known for good content except for some shows. So Netflix has chosen the right movie to release. The film has maintained its feel of suspense but it runs a little bit slow, so some of the audience won’t like it. If you like dark drama & artistic work so this film is for you. The end is unexpected but not awful like another suspense movie has to be. So Raat Akeli Hai is a good watch & it will not waste your time.
