Shakuntala Devi — Is it worth watching?
This story starts with the daughter files the case against her mother who is the well-known woman, the lead character of the film named “ Shakuntaladevi “. But we can’t know the case is about what. After the scene story turns to the flashback & the life of “Shakuntaladevi” starts from her motherland. She solves the math problem without any pause & earns the money from it. As life goes she likes to earn money from the math shows around the world & become famous everywhere. She is known as “Human-Computer” as she proved the computer wrong. She was successful in her career but not in personal life, How? To know this you have to watch the film.
Screenplay & Direction
Director Anu Menon has also written the film with partners Nayanika Mahtani & Ishita Moitra. The screenplay of the movie is average & direction also not up to the mark. Some of the scenes are well-directed & the use of the emotions is good. We will think that his movie will be only on a math basis but it won’t because the director gives the priority to the relationship & emotions in whole the movie. If you will like the drama movie full of emotions, this film would be your choice. Some of the dialogues are well written like “Jab Amazing Ban Sakti Hu To Normal Kyon Banu”.
Cinematography & Editing
Cinematographer Keiko Nakahara as done a good job in capturing the era of the 1950s to 2000. In each & every different year scenario changes & it looks like that era. The weakest part of the film is it’s editing. Editor Antara Lahiri does not allow us to connect with the film. Frames were changing rapidly & not allow us to connect it. The timing of the movie is OK. If the editing of the film is good, it will be fun to watch otherwise the audience will become bored.

Acting
T he strongest part of the film is its star cast. The casting team has done a wonderful job to select each & every character. All the actors have done a fabulous job. Amit Sadh has a short role but he takes it to the top. Sanya Malhotra as Shakuntala Devi’s daughter suits her role. She has to maintain anger on her face in the whole movie & she manages it well. The strongest part of the film is the one & only “Vidya Balan” After the dirty picture she has given excellent performance as Lead Actress. No one can do this role other than her. She can make you amazed by t he expression which she has to maintain in the whole film. You will remember her extraordinary smile, her screen presence & her confidence. Jisshu Sengupta has also done his part beautifully.
Music
Music doesn’t have any importance in the film. You will not remember even a single word of any song. The background score is also average.

The “Shakauntaladevi” is an average film which heart & soul is “Vidya Balan” Movie describes more about the relationship than Math. So makers have miscalculated this sum. IfVidya were not there in the film will be an ordinary film. It could be better for this genius personality. It explains how hard work has to be done to become successful & it is difficult to manage a career with the personal life for any woman. The film gives us a message about gender equality very clearly. At the last “Bada Admi” hi Kyon “Badi Aurat” bhi ban Sakti hai.
