Auto-mobile is one of the biggest industries of all time. And now it is turning it’s way to the path of EVs… usually most of our vehicles run on petrol, diesel or CNG fuel which are called internal combustion engine-driven vehicles. while in fully electric vehicles there is No engine there is the battery that supplies electricity to the motor and that runs our vehicles.

EVs are not too new to the industries, some of you might be surprised to know that, it was there even before the gasoline cars gain popularity. horse carts were used widely as modes of transportation earlier. lots of development was going in between the 1800s-1900s. As the U.S was becoming more prosperous & after the invention of electric motor. the first electric car came to existence in 1890 by William Morrison, with a top speed of 22 km/h. in early engine vehicles, it was difficult to change gears, it required manual cranking to start, & it was quite noisy which lead people to choose for electric vehicles and one-third of all vehicles were electric.

After the lots of developments in Internal combustion engines such as the invention of electric spark plugs IC engine-driven vehicles also turned easy to operate. Also after the oil reserve found near Texas. oil fuel prices reduced in the U.S, And oil pumping stations started popping up everywhere. And not all the areas of the U.S were connected to electricity.

In 1908 Henry ford came with his mass-produced Model-T car which was one of the major break-through in auto-mobile industries & widely recognized as the first model of supply chain and was robust in nature. in that era a gasoline car sold around 600–700$ while electric cars cost 1600–1700$.

Such factors lead to fade away, an early electric vehicle market.

One of the biggest reason is fuel resource is limited and demand and consumption of vehicles are increasing day by day, as transportation is the backbone of all major economic activity and transportation is a must. currently, we are generating electricity majorly from fossil fuel but we are shifting towards renewable energy sources so we can meet electricity demand for vehicles in the future. but can not meet fossil fuel demand for IC engine vehicles.

IC engine vehicles exhaust cause air pollution, Seventy- five percent of carbon monoxide emissions come from automobiles. which is one of harmful gas if taken in breath led to reduce oxygen in hemoglobin and cause headache and chest pain.

while industries all across globe manufacturing lots of IC vehicles, a backside many industries government research agencies, many scientists and engineers working for electric motors, battery technology & fast charging. which in turn lead to developing such kind of electric vehicles which are capable for the long run drive, high speed and very less charging time. which in turn helps for the new session for electric vehicles.

  • Unlike fuel vehicles, it won’t refuel just in time and anywhere, the development of robust charging network in-country is a must boost EVs.
  • To reduce waiting in charging, battery swapping technology is to be developed.
  • Indigenous battery manufactures are promoted and encouraged to meet demand with reliability.
  • skilled labor for battery and motor technology are to be produced to meet the manpower requirement.
  • A reliable supply of electricity to major areas of the country is a must for smooth functioning.

While all this going on, bright entrepreneur and real-life iron-man “Elon musk” had big dreams in his mind to accomplish with Tesla motors. First, create a high-end, high-performance sports electric car to prove that electric vehicles were both cool and feasible. Second, come up with a luxury sedan that would compete with high-end brands like BMW and Mercedes. Third, produce hundreds of thousands of low-cost electric vehicles for the masses. To turn the world into an electric car driven to reduce pollution and save the world.

Feb 2018 musk also launched roadster into space by using his falcon rocket to drew the interest of people for Tesla motors and electric vehicles.

The previous year he also announced, to free up Tesla motor’s all patents to be used by others in the public interest.

The central government of India launched the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme, for the development of technology, to create charging infrastructure, startups, EV projects, etc.

Kona Electric”, “ Tata Tigor EV”, “Mahindra E verito”. There are also electric 2 wheels from Mahindra, Hero, Yo-Bike.

Start-ups are also coming up with high quality, cutting edge technology electric vehicles from India, one such is Ather energy from Bengaluru by “Tarun machete” and Swapnil Jain” both from Indian institute of technology madras.

Ather 450 model, providing a top speed of 80 km/h and with a driving range between 55–75 km. Ather also has its own charging station network which they call Ather grid, in the city of Bengaluru and Chennai.
