What is artificial intelligence?
Artificial intelligence [AI] is a multidisciplinary branch of computer science, mathematics, and data science which are related to building machines or computer programs that are capable of doing a task that requires human intelligence. AI refers to the simulation of the human mind in machines that programmed to think and act like us.
Many times when we talk about AI people used to think about hardcore robots which were shown in science fiction movies that are so intelligent, improve themself at an exponential rate and take over the world, but as per the current status of AI, it is far away from that.
During 1950, Alen Turing published paper titles as “computing machinery and intelligence” in which he proposed a Turing test which is used to test the machine, whether a machine is intelligent or not? also, two Harvard undergraduates, Marvin Minsky & Dean Edmonds created, the first neural network computer SNARC.
While the term Artificial intelligence is first coined by the “John MacCarthy” who is known as the father of artificial intelligence. In 1958 John McCarthy developed the AI programming language “Lisp” he also published the paper “programs with common sense” in which he proposed advice for a complete AI system with the ability to learn from experience. in 1959, John McCarthy also founded the MIT Artificial Intelligence Project, with Marvin Minsky. in 1963 John McCarthy started the AI Lab at Stanford.
